St Mary’s Community Allotment Partington

Our Aim To improve the health and wellbeing of local residents by engaging more people in growing and eating fresh organically grown garden produce

Our Objectives 1.Provide training for people to develop food growing skills 2.Share produce and recipes with volunteers and wider community 3.Foster community cohesion by encouraging groups of residents to develop their gardens for food growing by sharing skills and resources

Provide Training 10 week course 4 hours per week Topics will include Using tools safely and effectively Seed sowing techniques Feeding and watering crops Harvesting and cooking produce Recognising and controlling pests, diseases and weeds Building raised beds Composting Encouraging beneficial wildlife

Share produce and recipes Volunteers who attend sessions will share the produce Volunteers will share recipes and ideas for using produce Local residents will be invited to regular ‘pick your own’ sessions on the plot Community cafe at Partington Library and Wellbeing Centre will sell any excess produce We will hold two open days to encourage participation by the wider community.

Foster Community Cohesion Encourage groups of residents to help each other develop their gardens for food growing by sharing skills and resources
