Loggerhead Sea Turtles By Meggie Navarro

Background about Loggerheads The Loggerhead is named after its big head They eat clams, shrimp, lobster, and crabs They can weigh up to 350 pounds and be as tall as 35 inches!!

Endangered Species Loggerheads can get trapped in fishing nets and die They can get killed when they are hatchlings because animals like raccoons or wild pigs will eat them Loggerheads have to look out for sharks their whole lives no matter how big they get They can get hit by boats when they up to the surface for air

How can you help? If you see turtle eggs, put a fence around them so people won’t harm them Use special fishing nets so the turtles can get out of them Don’t go everywhere in cars because it cause pollution and over time the turtles will not have any oxygen to breathe When you’re in a boat or anywhere near the water don’t drop any trash

Fun Facts Hatchlings are about the size of a Ping-Pong ball They can live to be 50 years old or more out in the wild There are less than 60,000 Loggerhead females nesting on earth!!
