3 FACTS ABOUT SEA TURTLES One of the earth’s most ancient creatures. Seven species of sea turtles.species Cannot retract their legs and head into their shells like other turtles. Diet includes jellyfish, seaweed, crabs, shrimp, sponges, snails, algae and mollusks Spend most of their lives in water

4 Sea turtles nesting Female turtles leave the water and go to the shore to lay eggs. They dig out a nest in the ground with their back flippers. They bury their clutch of eggs (70- 190 eggs) and return to the ocean. When the young hatch out of their eggs it can take up to one week to dig themselves out. They make their way to the ocean.

5 WHERE ARE SEA TURTLES FOUND? In all warm and temperate waters throughout the world Migrate hundreds of miles between nesting & feeding grounds. As far as 1400 miles

6 SEA TURTLES SWIMMING Sea turtle swimming Sea turtles spend all their lives in the sea Can stay under water for up to 5hrs Their legs are flippers so they are very strong swimmers. They breath through lungs and must swim to surface to breathe.
