Lesson 22 3 rd conjugation verbs… Future Tense! May 19-22, 2014

Let’s Review: 3 rd Conjugation! 3 rd conjugation verbs have –O, -ERE in their dictionary entry. pono, ponere, posui, positus mitto, mittere, misi, missus

Future Tense 3 rd Conjugation Verbs 3 rd conjugation verbs use the same stem to make their future tense as they do their present tense. pono, ponere, posui, positus Instead of dropping just the –RE to find the stem, go ahead and drop the –ERE instead!

3 rd Conjugation Future Tense Endings SingularPlural 1 st person 2 nd person 3 rd person I will… you will… he/she/it will… we will… y’all will… they will…

NO “-BO” 3 rd conjugation verbs do NOT use our “old” future tense endings: -bo, -bis, -bit, -bimus, -bitis, -bunt You only use the “-bo” endings for 1 st and 2 nd conjugation verbs (-o, -are and –eo, -ēre) Use me: E!

Practice! Write these in your notes, then take a few minutes to quick-translate them! Puellae equos agunt. Puellae equos agent. Vir puellas defendet. Vir puellas defendit. Litteras ad Marcum, amicum meum, mitto. Litteras ad Marcum, amicum meum, mittam.
