Race to the South Pole

Amundsen and the “Fram”  Amundson reached the south pole on 16 th December  Used skis and dog sleds.  Amundson began travelling to the North Pole on Fridtjof Nansenn's polar exploration ship Fram when he found that Frederick Cook and Robert E. Peary had already reached the pole, he changed the plan to the South Pole

Scott and the “Terra Nova”  British Antarctic Expedition  Robert Falcon Scott with his research team reached the south pole on 17 January 1912, 34 days after Amundsen’s team  On the way back, the whole party died because of a snow storm. They froze to death when they were not far from the one ton depot

100 years later  Descendants of Scott and Amundsens meet at the Scott polar research institute in England  Amundsens grandson was afraid of the reaction of Scott’s family.
