Promethean ActivClassroom Troubleshooting Common Problems - No Sound

Many teachers have expressed an interest in becoming self-sufficient in the classroom as it relates to the hardware and software available to them. The next few slides are some troubleshooting steps to perform when the speakers are not working on your Promethean board.

I am not getting any sound from the speakers on the Promethean Board? Solution 1: Make sure the volume is not set to MUTE: Select Start, Control Panel, Sounds, Adjust System Volume. Volume Adjustment Mute – double click to unmute Did this resolve your issue? If not, proceed to the next slide.

Solution 2: Revision 1 & 2 Type Boards 300 Series Boards Make sure the sound controls on your Promethean board has the power turned on and the audio volume is adjusted to an appropriate level. Did this resolve your issue? If not, proceed to the next slide.

Solution 3: Check the computer audio signal. Revision 1 & 2 Type Boards – Make sure the black audio cable from the Promethean board is plugged into the green port on the back of the computer. Plug the green monitor cable into the back of the computer to see if the audio works through the computer. If there is still no sound there may be a problem with the sound card on the computer. If this is the case, submit a ticket to the help desk.

300 Series Type Boards – Disconnect the USB cable from the computer. Wait 10 seconds, reconnect. Restart the computer.   Make sure the volume is not set to mute on the remote. Sound plays through the USB cable connected to the Promethean Board and your computer. If the board is functioning, but sound will not play after adjusting the volume on the board and through the volume control in the control panel, submit a help desk ticket.
