Presentation transcript:

Good Readers Make Predictions  Before, During, and After reading  They start with “I think…”  When you are done, you can revise, or change, your prediction. You could also write a new one.  You are making an educated guess based on what you have seen/skimmed or read.  Text Features: Cover, Index, Pictures, Headings, Table of Contents, Glossary, Captions, Sidebars, Maps and Diagrams

Predictions  I think that First Journeys is about early modes of transportation because the headings, the pictures, and the table of contents showed this topic.  After reading some of the book, I think that I will learn about the early versions of transportation, such as trains. I do not think it will tell me about modern day transportation because the text only discussed the first types of trains.

PREDICTIONS  Before reading – I look at the text features and think about my background/prior knowledge.  I think that First Journeys will be about early modes of transportation and how people invented trains and cars. I think this because the pictures and headings showed me objects that looked like trains and boats, but they were different from the trains and boats we use today.
