Prepared by London Pharmacy Education & Training Learning to Ride

When you learn to ride a bike you can fall off, and it can be the same when you start to engage with CPD 2

Learning outcomes By the end of this session participants should be able to:  describe the 3 different models explained in the session  use one of the models to help them reflect on their practice and identify learning/development needs  transfer their learning needs onto the reflection stage of a CPD entry 3

So where do I start? Many of us reflect on a daily basis without realising it:  You may talk over a difficult situation with a friend  You may think over the day’s events on the way home  You may informally discuss a work situation with colleagues  During your Personal Development Review, you look back at your performance in the past year, and plan your development needs for the next year 4

Model one: A Typical Day 5

Model two: The Seasonal Reflective Grid PREVIOUS SEASONCURRENT SEASON NEXT SEASON 6

Model three: Life Map LIFE MAP HOMECAREER CPD TRAINING NVQ CPD ONE-TO-ONES APPRAISALS/ PDRs OBJECTIVES STORES NVQ TRAINING PROMOTION ME 7

Practice activity  Work through one of the models yourself  Transfer your learning needs onto the reflection stage of a CPD entry 8
