BE A WITNESS! Preparing for a Harvest. Reading: Ecclesiastes 11:1-6 Preparing for a Harvest

In Ecclesiastes 11:1-6 we can see pointers that will help everyone of us to be good witnesses and also prepare us for gathering in a harvest.

1. SOW EXPECTING TO REAP! Vs1 - “You will find it again.” (bring returns) Preparing for a Harvest

2. SOW GENEROUSLY TO ALL! Vs2 - “Give portions to seven, yes to eight.” (2 Cor 9:6-7 - Sow bountifully and you will reap bountifully.) Preparing for a Harvest

3. SOW WHILE THERE IS OPPORTUNITY! Vs2 - “For you do not know what disaster may come”. Time is short and opportunities may go!! Preparing for a Harvest

4.SOW WHERE YOU ARE! Vs3 - “Whether a tree falls to the south or to the north in the place where it falls.” God has given us great opportunities in our own location. (we need more labourers!) (See Matt 9:37,38) Preparing for a Harvest

5. SOW DESPITE THE DIFFICULTIES Vs4 - “Whoever watches the wind will not plant, whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.” We need to take our eyes off the problem and look to Jesus! (Philippians 4:13 - “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”) Preparing for a Harvest

6. SOW TRUSTING GOD TO DO HIS UNSEEN WORK! Vs5 - “You cannot understand the work of God.” We will never be able to explain how God convicts and transforms lives but we must accept and obey His direction. YOU DO YOUR PART GOD WILL DO HIS! Preparing for a Harvest

7. SOW AT ALL TIMES! Vs6 - “Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening let not your hands be idle.” Commentaries speak of ‘Morning and Evening’ being translated ‘Youth and Old Age.’ We are never too young or too old! WHEREVER YOU GO, SOW! Conclusion: John 4:35. Preparing for a Harvest
