The Japanese Culture By: Vince Cortez

Japanese Swords 1. There are many types of Japanese swords that different by size, shape, field of application. 2. Some of the more commonly known types of Japanese swords are the katana, wakizaashi, and tachi.

Bonsai Trees 1.The centuries old art of bonsai is still alive and well in traditional style gardens of Japan. 2.Bonsai is the art of shaping and training trees to grow in a esthetically pleasing way. 3.A pyramid of ropes helps protect the carefully trained branches from snapping under the weight of snow.

Vending Machines 1.Illuminated vending machines display their offerings: soft drinks, snacks, and cigarettes. 2.Vending machines are popular in Japan, which has one of the highest numbers of vending machines per capital in the world. 3.Some vending machines require ID card for purchases like cigarettes.

Cherry Blossoms 1.Cherry blossoms came out in March and after a long winter. 2.People gather in parks to soak up the warmth of early spring. 3.People drink sake, and watch sing and dancing under the cherry blossom trees.

Paper Lanterns 1.Paper lanterns are found hanging in temples, shrines, and restaurants through out Japan. 2.Typically, they consist of white paper with black and red writing convering a wooden frame.
