GOOD AND BAD: DO YOU BELIEVE IN THEM? SUPERSTITIONS

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS WHAT ARE SOME THINGS THAT BRING GOOD LUCK? WHAT ARE SOME THINGS THAT BRING BAD LUCK? WHAT ARE OTHER SUPERSTITIONS THAT EXIST?

SUPERSTITIOUS?? (THANKS, STEVIE) Throughout history, people have searched for answers to things they cannot explain. With a partner, you are going to research a common superstition and create a PowerPoint slide to share with the class. 1. What is the superstition you are researching? 2. Does it provide GOOD luck or BAD luck? How much? (7 years, just that day, etc.) 3. Where AND when did the superstition originate? 4. What is involved in the superstition you are researching? 5.Why did this become “superstition”? 6. Pose a question to the class related to your superstition. 7.Provide an image to representative of your superstition.

1. BIRD POOP = RICHES 2. Good luck 3. Believed in several countries (Russia for this source) 4. The more birds that poop on your car/house, the richer you’ll be! 5. Based on the idea that when we suffer, good fortune is to follow (karma) 6. Can you recall a time when you were pooped on and something good came of it?
