Ed Cody Elementary Annual Title One Informational Meeting

Eligibility Requirements Cody has 65% of enrolled students receiving free or reduced lunch. Amount qualifies Cody to receive funding. Every child at Cody is eligible to receive Title One Services. Ed Cody Elementary is classified as a Schoolwide Title One School.

What is Title One? Northside ISD participates in the Federal Title I Program which provides federal money for programs “to meet the educational needs of children in school attendance areas with a high concentration of children from low-income families and for children in institutions for neglected children”. Programs such as pre-kindergarten, accelerated reading and math programs, tutoring, staff development, and family math and literacy nights are funded through title one.

Title One Schoolwide Components 1.Comprehensive Needs Assessment 2.Schoolwide strategies to increase quality and amount of academics received. 3.Highly qualified teachers and substitutes. 4.Ongoing professional development. 5.Policies to attract highly qualified teachers. 6.Strategies to increase parental involvement. 7.Plans to assist preschool children transition. 8.Measures to include teachers in decision making. 9.Provide additional activities for assistance of struggling students. 10.Coordination and integration of Federal, State and Local Services and programs.

What should I expect to see? Parent Involvement Policy sent home each year. Parent notification of teacher qualifications. Parent/Teacher/Student Compact Reviewed. Notification of Yearly Title One Informational Meeting.

How has Ed Cody used the extra funding? Additional materials and supplies (computers, math programs, software, etc.) Additional staffing consisting of an Academic Support Teacher (Science), Math Specialist, and Reading specialist. On going staff development. After school tutoring and family nights. Limited money – for technology, tutoring and parental involvement

How does my child benefit? Increased Resources + Increased Staffing + Increased Materials and Supplies = Increased Learning Opportunities
