T HE J UNG /M EYERS -B RIGGS PERSONALITY INVENTORY

The test as been around since 1943 No right or wrong answer The test helps us to better understand how we: Interact in society The way were perceive things The way we make choices The way we look at the outside world

T HE J UNG /M EYERS -B RIGGS PERSONALITY INVENTORY Personality qualities are opposites- you will be one or the other Extraverted v. Introverted Sensing v. intuitive Thinking v. feeling Sensing v. Judging

E XTRAVERSION OR I NTROVERSION Where do you put your attention and get your energy? Do you like to spend time in the outer world of people and things (Extraversion), or in your inner world of ideas and images (Introversion)? (Meyersbriggs.org)

E XTRAVERTED The Extraverted side of our brain enjoys activities, people, and things. Extraverted Characteristics Act first, think/reflect later Feel deprived when cutoff from interaction with the outside world Usually open to and motivated by outside world of people and things Enjoy wide variety and change in people relationships

I NTROVERTED (I) The Introverted side of our brain prefers thoughts, interests, ideas, and imagination. Introverted Characteristics Think/reflect first, then Act Regularly require an amount of "private time" to recharge batteries Motivated internally, mind is sometimes so active it is "closed" to outside world Prefer one-to-one communication and relationships

S ENSING OR I NTUITION Do you pay more attention to information that comes in through your five senses (Sensing), or do you pay more attention to the patterns and possibilities that you see in the information you receive (Intuition)? (Meyersbriggs.org)

S ENSING (S) The Sensing (S) side of our brain pays attention to the senses. Things that are real, and current are important. It categorizes, organizes, records and stores the specifics from the here and now. It is REALITY based, dealing with "what is." It also provides the specific details of memory & can recall events from the PAST. Best improvise from past experience Like clear and concrete information; dislike guessing when facts are "fuzzy"

I NTUITIVE (N) The Intuitive (N) side of our brain pays the most attention to impressions and patterns. They would rather learn by thinking through a problem then through a hands-on activity. Events are remembered by thinking about the meaning of the event. It is easier to look at the big picture and then find out the facts. It is easier to look at new possibilities then how to make them a reality.

T HINKING OR F EELING This pair describes how you like to make decisions. Do you like to put more weight on objective principles and impersonal facts (Thinking) or do you put more weight on personal concerns and the people involved (Feeling)? (Myersbriggs.org)

T HINKING (T) The Thinking (T) side of our brain analyzes information in a DETACHED way. It operates by looking at the facts. It is our logical nature. Thinking Characteristics Instinctively search for facts and logic in a decision situation. Naturally notices tasks and work to be accomplished. Easily able to provide an objective and critical analysis.

F EELING (F) The Feeling (F) side of our brain forms conclusions in an ATTACHED way. The way that people feel and relationships Feeling Characteristics Naturally sensitive to people needs and reactions. Naturally seek consensus and popular opinions. Unsettled by conflict; doesn’t like disharmony.

J UDGING OR P ERCEIVING This pair describes how you like to live your outer life--what are the behaviors others tend to see? Do you prefer a more structured and decided lifestyle (Judging) or a more flexible and adaptable lifestyle (Perceiving)? (Myersbriggs.org)

J UDGING (J) A Judging (J) style approaches the outside world WITH A PLAN and is oriented towards organization and planning Judging Characteristics Plans many details in advance before taking action. Works best and avoids stress when able to keep ahead of deadlines. Naturally uses dates and routines to manage everyday life.

P ERCEIVING (P) A Perceiving (P) style takes the outside world AS IT COMES. It is better when things flexible and open. No plan necessary. Perceiving Characteristics Comfortable without a plan; plan on-the-go. Like to multitask, have variety, mix work and play. Work best close to the deadlines. Avoid commitments that interfere with flexibility, freedom and variety
