New Hanover County Schools Board of Education Presentation November 19, 2013

 The Superintendent shall recommend 25% of selected teachers from the eligible list to the Board of Education for approval.  The Board shall review the selected teachers recommended by the Superintendent and may accept each recommended teacher or choose an alternative teacher.

 Teachers having been employed by NHCS for three consecutive years prior to the beginning of this school year (September 1, 2013), including probationary teachers.  Teachers who are deemed effective as demonstrated by obtaining a proficient rating on Standards 1 through 5 on the teacher evaluation instrument.  The selection from the eligible teacher list will be based on a rubric indicating the 25% highest performing teachers at each individual school and shall be measured by individual teacher evaluations and principal input on current performance.

 Developing: Teacher demonstrated adequate growth toward achieving standard(s) during the period of performance, but did not demonstrate competence on standard(s) of performance.  Proficient: Teacher demonstrated basic competence on standard(s) of performance.  Accomplished: Teacher exceeded basic competence on standard(s) of performance most of the time.  Distinguished: Teacher consistently and significantly exceeded basic competence on standard(s) of performance.
