Who is Jane Austen  She was born in Steventon in Hampshire in 1775 and died in Winchester, England in  Was an authoress who published more than six works during her lifetime.  Many of her works are considered classic literature.  She never meeried.

Family  Austen´s parents, George Austen ( ) and his wife Cassandra ( ) were members of substantial gentry families.  Austen family was large: six brothers and one sister.  Cassandra Elizabeth was Austen´s closest friend all her life.

Novels  Sense and Sensibility(1811)  Pride and Prejudice(1813)  Mansfield Park(1814)  Emma(1816)  Northanger Abbey(1817)  Persuasion(1817)

Pride and Prejudice  Austen´s second published novel.  The most successful to date.  First Draft of the manuscript was titled „First Impressions“.  Examines the social order upon diverse classes of society.  Again Austen`s heroines face issues with property inheritance and limited income.

Jane Austen`s Festival in Bath  The Festival is hold each year in autumn and continue from 12th to 20th September.  The first Jane Austen Festival in Bath was held in September 2001 over the course of a weekend with events taking plance at the Jane Austen Centry in Gay Street.

Summary  Takes place every year festival.  Jane Austen was a writer.  Died of tuberculosis.
