A Level ICT has been developed for students who wish to progress to higher education or to the world of work, where understanding how ICT can be used in society and organisations, and the implications of its use, will be a valuable asset.

 It allows greater opportunities for practical work than previous specifications  Practical work can be carried out using a wide range of software and hardware choice  It allows for greater flexibility in modes of delivery  Students can be truly engaged in their studies by becoming active investigators rather than passive learners  There are greater opportunities than in previous specifications for effective personalised learning, for target setting and for differentiated outcomes

Unit 1 – INFO1 Practical Problem Solving in the Digital World  50% of AS, 25% of A Level  1 hour 30 minutes examination  80 marks Section A: short answer questions Section B: structured questions Available May/June

Unit 2 – INFO2 Living in the Digital World  50% of AS, 25% of A Level  1 hour 30 minutes examination  80 marks Section A: short answer questions Section B: structured questions Available in May/June

Candidates will acquire knowledge and understanding about:  The characteristics of data and information  The use of ICT for a range of purposes  The influence of social, cultural, legal, technical, ethical, economic and environmental considerations on the use of ICT  The consequences of using ICT for individuals, organisations and society  The components, characteristics and functions of ICT systems (including hardware, software and communication) which allow effective solutions to be achieved  The systematic development of high quality ICT-related solutions to problems  Emerging technologies and their implications for future use of ICT.

Candidates will:  Investigate and analyse problems and produce a specification  Design effective solutions  select and use appropriate application software  Test and implement an effective ICT-related system  Document specifications and solutions  Evaluate solutions and their own performance.

Unit 3 INFO3 The Use of ICT in the Digital World  30% of A Level  2 hour examination  100 marks  Section A: Structured questions based on pre- release material  Section B: Questions requiring extended answers  Available May/June

Unit 4 – INFO4 Coursework: Practical Issues Involved in the Use of ICT in the Digital World  20% of A Level  Coursework project report, marked by centre and moderated by AQA  70 marks  Students complete a project involving the production of an ICT-related system over an extended period of time
