SHORT RANGE TRAINING PLAN

COMMAND GUIDANCE GENERAL 1. BRING ALL ASSIGNED BOOKS AND MATERIALS TO CLASS EVERYDAY WITHOUT EXCEPTION 2. ALL CHARTS MUST BE LEGIBLE FROM 6 FEET AWAY AND MUST BE HANDWRITTEN IN MARKER AND WILL FOLLOW EXAMPLE PACKET 3. SPECIAL REQUESTS WILL BE ADDRESSED TO YOUR S-3 4. THERE IS ONY ONE UCOFT AVAILABLE TO THE BATTALION. 5. THERE ARE TWO CLASSROOMS AVAILABLE TO THE BATTALION.

BY NON-INFANTRY MOS’S TO TRAIN THE SAME 6. THE BGST SITE WILL HAVE ONLY 14 BFVS, INCLUDING BACKUP AND RETRAIN VEHICLES.. 7. ALL MOS’S WILL CONSTRUCT BT I THRU VIII, TO INCLUDE III & IV. BT III & IV WILL BE MODIFIED BY NON-INFANTRY MOS’S TO TRAIN THE SAME TYPES OF TASKS AS ADVANCED LIVE-FIRE TABLES. EACH MOS WILL CONSTRUCT THE APPROPRIATE ADVANCED LIVE-FIRE TABLES. THE TADSS RESOURCE, AMMO RESOURCE AND CALENDAR WILL REFLECT THE PLANNED TABLES.

8. ALL BRADLEY TABLES WILL HAVE A SEPARATE RANGE OVERLAY. 9. OBJECTIVES AND GOALS WILL BE WRITTEN FOLLOWING THE SAMPLE PACKET. 10. ALL QUALIFICATION GOALS WILL ADDRESS REFIRES. ASSESSMENTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS 11. A TASK CANNOT BE USED FOR MORE THAN ONE RECOMMENDATION. ( I.E SAME TASK CANNOT FIX A STRENGTH AND WEAKNESS).

12. ALL RECOMMENDATIONS MUST BE WRITTEN INTO YOUR PLAN IN ONLY THE FOLLOWING AREAS RESOURCE CHARTS NEAR TERM CALENDARS CREW OR TACTICAL SCENARIOS 13. ALL RECOMMENDATIONS MUST BE A LOGICAL FIX TO SUSTAIN OR IMPROVE, NO UCOFT FIXES 14. FOR A WEAKNESS YOU MUST REPLICATE THE EXACT TASK AND FOR A STRENGTH MUST REPLICATE THE TASK AND ADD A LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY

AMMUNITION AND RESOURCE CHARTS 15. YOUR BATTALION HAS 14 SETS OF PGS AND 9 SETS OF THRU-SIGHT VIDEO AVAILABLE TO THEM. ALL TRAINING EVENTS TO INCLUDE PRELIMINARY GUNNERY WILL BE LISTED ON THE RESOURCE CHART WITH AN APPROPRIATE AMOUNT OF EQUIPMENT TO CONDUCT TRAINING. 16. ALL RANGES AND TRAINING AREAS WILL BE RESOURCED ON RESOURCE CHART 17. ALL TRAINING EVENTS WILL BE LISTED ACROSS THE TOP OF EVERY PAGE OF THE AMMO AND RESOURCE CHARTS. NO FOLDOUTS OR EXTENDED PAGES.

18. ALL EVENTS ON THE AMMO CHART WILL BE FULLY RESOURCED TO INCLUDE ZERO. AMMO NUMBERS SHOULD REFLECT RECOMMENDED GOALS. ADDITIONAL AMMO REQUESTED TO S3 19. SQD AND PLT LFX’S WILL ONLY BE CONDUCTED ON RANGE 6 20. LTA USAGE WILL BE LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING TWO LANE/MULTIPLE VEH LTA A 2 KM X 5 KM FIELD LTA B 2 KM X 5 KM AREA (NO TRACK VEH) LTA C DISMOUNT ONLY 1 KM X 2 KM LTA D (WOODED AREA) ** THERE WILL BE NO FIRING OF LIVE AMMO ON LTA’s

21. TOTAL AMMO NEEDED, TOTAL AMMO AVAILABLE AND TOTAL AMMO REMAINING WILL BE ANNOTATED ON AMMO CHART. REFIRE AMMUNITION FOR BT VIII WILL REFLECT 10% FOR REFIRE. NEAR TERM CALENDAR 22. ALL TRAINING EVENTS ON THE NEAR TERM CALENDAR WILL BE SCHEDULED IN A LOGICAL SEQUENCE AND FOLLOW THE INTEGRATED TRNG STRATEGY BASED ON THE STUDENTS MOS, IAW THE CORRESPONDING CHAPTER IN FM 3-22.1.

23. TRNG WILL BE CONDUCTED MON-FRI FROM NEAR TERM CALENDAR 23. TRNG WILL BE CONDUCTED MON-FRI FROM 0600-1800 THROUGHOUT PRELIMINARY AND DEVICE GUNNERY WINDOWS. THE ONLY EXCEPTIONS WILL BE: UCOFT WILL BE CONDUCTED 24 HOURS A DAY 7 DAYS A WEEK UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED BY YOUR S-3 UCOFT WILL NOT BE USED DURING WEAPONS QUALIFICATION AND LIVE FIRE TABLES WHEN A NIGHT PHASE IS CONDUCTED IT WILL BE THE SAME DAY AT EENT

24. SQD AND PLT LFX’S AND STX’S ARE FOUR SEPERATE EVENTS AND WILL BE PLANNED ON FOUR SEPARATE DAYS FOR EACH COMPANY 25. DURING IO CERTIFICATION LINE COMPANIES WILL ONLY UTILIZE THE UCOFT FROM 1800-0600 26. STUDENT MUST LIST WHAT CLASSROOM SUBJECTS, CREW/BATTLE DRILLS, SQD/PLT DRILLS THAT ARE BEING CONDUCTED AT THE BOTTOM OF CALENDAR WHERE EVENTS OCCUR 27. UCOFT HOURS WILL BE ANNOTATED AT THE BOTTOM OF EACH CALENDAR BY COMPANY

28. PRELIM GUNNERY, BGST, BT I, BT III AND BT IV WILL BE CONDUCTED ON AN LTA WITH THE EXCEPTION OF CVI AND CLASSROOM INSTR 29. SGT’S TIME IS CONDUCTED ON THURSDAY FROM 0700-1200 DURING PRELIM GUNNERY WINDOW. NO UCOFT ALLOWED 30. A WEATHER DAY WILL BE PLANNED AT THE END OF LIVE FIRE GUNNERY WITH A MAINT DAY BEFORE THE CREW QUAL TABLE 31. BT IV, BT IX, BT X, BT XI AND BT XII WILL BE EVALUATED COMPANY EXTERNAL AND BN INTERNAL AND COMPANY PROVIDING EVALUATORS WILL BE ANNOTATED ON NEAR TERM CALENDAR

32. THERE WILL BE NO MORE THAN 3 RNG OR LTA’S RUNNING AT ANY GIVEN TIME (EXCEPT WEAPON QUAL OR SGT’S TIME) NO MORE THAN ONE COMPANY ON A RANGE OR LTA AT A TIME NO BATTALION RUN SMALL ARMS RANGE CREW GUNNERY TABLES 33. ALLOWABLE VARIATIONS IAW FM 3-22.1 CH 8 WILL BE STRICTLY ADHERED TO. 34. MINIMUM TARGETRY AND AMMO REQ MUST BE ADHERED TO IAW FM 3-22.1. 35. MANEUVER BOXES MUST BE MARKED AND CORRECT IAW FM 32-22.1.

36. THERE MUST NOT BE ANY TARGET CONFLICTS WITHIN ANY PHASE OF ANY TABLE 37. THREAT TEMPLATE MUST BE WRITTEN ON CHART AND CORRECT 38. TARGET KILL STANDARDS WILL BE WRITTEN OUT FOR EACH TARGET 39. TARGET RANGES AND EXPOSURE TIMES MUST BE CORRECT TACTICAL GUNNERY TABLES 40. MINIMUM TARGETRY REQ MUST BE ADHERED TO IAW FM 3-22.1.

41. ALLOWABLE VARIATIONS WILL BE ADHERED TO IAW THE APPROPRIATE CH. OF FM 3-22.1. 42. EXPOSURE TIMES WILL BE ANNOTATED WHERE APPROPRIATE 43. ALLOCATED AMMUNITION WILL BE ADHERED TO IAW FM 3-22.1. 44. TARGET THREAT TEMPLATES MUST BE WRITTEN ON CHART AND CORRECT 45. THERE MUST NOT BE ANY TARGET CONFLICTS WITHIN ANY PHASE OF ANY TABLE

SHORT RANGE TRAINING PLAN * YOU CANNOT USE AN EXISTING TASK OUT OF FM 23-1 TO BUILD ON A STRENGTH OR WEAKNESS * KILL STANDARDS WILL BE WRITTEN OUT FOR EACH ENGAGEMENT BT I THROUGH VIII (i.e.; hit with a minimum of three rounds). * ALL OBJECTIVES WILL BE ADDRESSED IN YOUR GOALS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF COMPANY OR BATTALION FTX * SCOUTS, ADA, ENGINEERS, FORWARD OBSERVERSS AND MARINES WILL DO BT III AND BT IV, AMMO AND RESOURCE CHARTS WILL REFLECT THESE TABLES * YOU CANNOT ADD BP’S OR TARGETS TO RANGES

OBJECTIVE 1. All BFV crews must qualify on the Bradley Crew Proficiency prior to Live-Fire. 2. Eighty-five percent of the mechanized battalion’s assigned primary crews and 85 percent of the platoon leader alternate crews will have qualified on Table VIII within the past six months. All platoon crews and the platoon leader alternate crew must qualify on BT VIII before attempting BT XII. 3. Seventy-five percent of the rifle platoons will have qualified on Table XII within the past 12 months. 4. All infantry squads, alone or as part of a larger unit, will have successfully participated in a dismount LFX to standard within the past 6 months.
