doc.: IEEE /357R0 Submission July-01 David BagbySlide 8 Agenda adoption Moved: to adopt agenda as proposed –Moved: Bob O’hara –Second: Darwin –Vote: 9, 0, 0

doc.: IEEE /357R0 Submission July-01 David BagbySlide 9 11F Papers 01/388 – proposed LB resolutions – O’Hara –Proposed Draft reflects 01/388R0 Others –SLP Jessie to Bob –Security – PPt & wor doc from bernard (01/251) –Move add notify packet addressing (Darwin) 01/449R0

doc.: IEEE /357R0 Submission July-01 David BagbySlide 10 Some Key issues from 1 st LB – via Bob O’Hara 1: Forward roaming (row 645, comment 488 by Menzo Wentink), adding new primitives and packets to send context to a new AP in advance of the mobile station roaming. 2: Frame buffering (row 165, 166, 660 and many others), requirement to buffer frames in the new AP until a MOVE- response packet is received. 3: SLP operation (many comments), which mode SLP operates in, URLs, others 4: Security (rows 500, 437, 339, ) several issues including protection of the information sent using IAPP, authenticating IAPP messages and authenticating registrations 5: Vendor specific use of the context blob (row 451, 448, 452)

doc.: IEEE /357R0 Submission July-01 David BagbySlide 11 Forward Roaming Forward roaming (row 645, comment 488 by Menzo Wentink), adding new primitives and packets to send context to a new AP in advance of the mobile station roaming. Discussion: only makes sense if AP controls reassoc events (not true today), three way hand shake required, Not supported in.11 MAC as published and breaks existing model of.11. Resolution: 11F declines to adopt this suggestion as it is not functionality that requires. Also, no formal requirement has been presented from any other.11 TG that requires this. –Motion to adopt resolution: Mark moves, Tim 2 nd, vote: 9, 0, 1

doc.: IEEE /357R0 Submission July-01 David BagbySlide 12 Frame Buffering Frame buffering (row 165, 166, 660 and many others), requirement to buffer frames in the new AP until a MOVE- response packet is received. Discussion notes: buffer req could be huge; move confirm may never occur; draft says “new ap” shouldn’t buffer; Might mess up TCP time estimate; Don’t want UDP traffic buffered; this is L2 (non-reliable) – let higher layer recover; Resolution: Group agrees with comments that object to buffering requirements and will delete sentence in draft with buffering requirement. –Moved Bob O, Mark 2 nd ; vote: 11, 0, 0

doc.: IEEE /357R0 Submission July-01 David BagbySlide 13 SLP Operation SLP operation (many comments), which mode SLP operates in, URLs, other Much work & discussion during week. Resolution: discussion resulted in paper 01/490R1 which was adopted.

doc.: IEEE /357R0 Submission July-01 David BagbySlide 14 Security issues Security (rows 500, 437, 339, ) several issues including protection of the information sent using IAPP, authenticating IAPP messages and authenticating registrations Notes: see Bernard 01/251 discussion slides. Moved: 11F will provide support for the.1X sec environment via the security context transfer proposal from bernard (doc 01/251) –Bernard will create draft text today. –Moved: Bernard, 2 nd : Butch anton, vote: 11, 0, 0 Moved: 11F will provide context blob in move request as well as response – and Tim M will create draft text today. –Move: tim M, 2 nd victoria; vote: 10, 0, 0

doc.: IEEE /357R0 Submission July-01 David BagbySlide 15 Vendor Specific use of Context Vendor specific use of the context blob (row 451, 448, 452) Moved: 11F will define one IE where the first three bytes of the info field are a vendor OUI and this IE can be ignored at will. No compliant implementation of this RP will depend on the use of this IE. –Motion Tim M; 2nd Victoria; vote: 8, 1, 1

doc.: IEEE /357R0 Submission July-01 David BagbySlide 16 Red comments From 388R0 All processed – see minutes & 388R2 file.

doc.: IEEE /357R0 Submission July-01 David BagbySlide 17 Move-Notify Proposed improvements to move-notify and add-notify (01/449) – notes: good reaction, but do L2 packet before L3 to eliminate timing hole possible of L3 failure before L2 bridges retrained. –Moved to adopt: Darwin, 2 nd Bob O, vote: 5, 0, 1

doc.: IEEE /357R0 Submission July-01 David BagbySlide R0 “Orange” Comments Moved to adopt 388r0/orange resolutions –Moved: Jo-ellen, Bob O’Hara; vote: Unan

doc.: IEEE /357R0 Submission July-01 David BagbySlide 19 SLP change proposal Doc 01/490 “SLP Usage and the Registration service” by Mark Mathews Moved: to adopt approach # 2 in the doc and reflect this in the draft 2.0 text. –Moved: Bob O’Hara –2 nd : Brian M –Vote: 4, 0, 0, (+ several non-voting endorsers)

doc.: IEEE /357R0 Submission July-01 David BagbySlide 20 Motion to rescind Reg Service on/off knob invention Resolution of comment that resulted in addition of MIB knob to turn off requirement of AP to be registration service is now not needed due to 01/490 approach. Motion to recend: Darwin Engwer (it was his LB comment) 2 nd Bob O’hara Vote: unanimous

doc.: IEEE /357R0 Submission July-01 David BagbySlide 21 Sched Decision Motivation Whereas –11F has processed all the received LB comments and created a revised draft (2.0), –11f has also added support for 802.1x authentication environments which we understand will support the known needs of 11i; and no other 11i specific support requests were received in LB comments –No 11e specific support requests were received in LB comments Therefore, 11f has decided to not be lock stepped to either 11e or 11i and will go forward with a 2 nd WG letter ballot in order to remain on schedule.

doc.: IEEE /357R0 Submission July-01 David BagbySlide 22 Sched Decision Motion Moved: To not make the the 11f schedule dependant on either 11e or 11i progress. –If additional support requests for 11e/i are identified via the LB process, they can be considered at that time. –Moved: Victoria –2 nd : Bob O’hara –Vote:Unan

doc.: IEEE /357R0 Submission July-01 David BagbySlide 23 Motion to adopt new draft To Adopt draft 2.0 as the current F draft. –Moved: Darwin –2 nd : Bob O –Vote: Unan

doc.: IEEE /357R0 Submission July-01 David BagbySlide 24 Magic number motion #1 (for plenary) Moved: That IEEE apply to IANA for a UDP port number for F. This value will be inserted in the F draft once received. –Moved: Victoria –2 nd : Kevin –Vote: unan Plenary action:

doc.: IEEE /357R0 Submission July-01 David BagbySlide 25 Magic number motion #2 (for plenary) Moved: That IEEE apply for an SMI number for the IAPP MIB. This value will be inserted in the F draft once received. –Moved: Bob O –2 nd : Victoria –Vote: unan Plenary action:

doc.: IEEE /357R0 Submission July-01 David BagbySlide 26 Motion to start LB 28 (for plenary) To conduct a working group letter ballot to forward the F draft 2.0 to sponsor ballot. –Moved: Butch –2 nd : mathews –Vote: unan Plenary action:

doc.: IEEE /357R0 Submission July-01 David BagbySlide 27 Info: 11F Requests a MAC change to pass sequence # 11F requires that it be handed the sequence # from the MAC Technically, this is not passed in the current MAC definition – so we’d like a small correction to the definition. This is not an implementation issue, only a specification issue. 11F understands that this has been requested of 11i as part of 01/488 by Tim Moore.

doc.: IEEE /357R0 Submission July-01 David BagbySlide 28 July output docs 01/345 – 11F minutes for the week. 01/388R1 – LB 26 comment resolutions. Draft 2.0 for 2 nd WG LB –(and 1.3 with change bars) Security roaming interactions (01/251) Move add notify packet addressing (01/449R0) SLP Usage and the Registration service (01/490)

doc.: IEEE /357R0 Submission July-01 David BagbySlide 29 Sept Goals Process any LB comments from LB 28 on F draft 2.0 and proceed to sponsor ballot

doc.: IEEE /357R0 Submission July-01 David BagbySlide 30 Motion to Adjourn Move to adjourn: –Moved: Butch –2 nd : Mathews –Vote: Unan
