ATP Adenosine Triphosphate. It is the energy molecule of the body. The three phosphates are negative and want to break free of each other. ATP gives energy by breaking the high energy bond between two phosphates and giving a phosphate to another molecule.

What makes a tree heavy?

Photosynthesis CO 2 + H 2 O  C 6 H 12 O 6 + O 2 When in the presence of light, enzymes, and the right temperature

Photosynthesis takes place in the chloroplast Thylakoids are in stacks called grana. Thylakoids are sacs that contain chlorophyll. Stroma is the liquid with enzymes surrounding the grana.

Chlorophyll Chlorophyll is a pigment. Pigments are chemicals that absorb light. The color seen is the color reflected, not the color absorbed. The wavelengths of the visible light spectrum are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet. (ROY G BIV).

Step 1: Light Reactions Happen in thylakoids. Chlorophyll traps sunlight energy to energize electrons. Electron Transport Chain – electrons are passed from enzyme to enzyme releasing energy.

Step 1: Light Reactions The energy released is used to split water into hydrogen and oxygen and make ATP. Oxygen is given off as waste. Hydrogens are carried to stroma by attaching to NADP to form NADPH.

Step 2: Calvin Cycle Happens in the stroma. Can happen in light or dark. Using energy from ATP, enzymes attach hydrogens to CO 2 forming the sugar glucose (C 6 H 12 O 6 ).
