Home for me is a combination of both good and bad. For a time home inside of me was very dark and a scary place to be, but on the outside also what I had that I called home, was a very beautiful and happy place, riding my horses under the warm sun, watching the waves of the sea crashing and hearing the trees blowing in the wind.

Here I tried to combine all of the thing together into one. My work I have produced all has a connection to horses. So I incorporated the colours of the sunset, the black from the shadows and outlines, and the blue wave like movement all within the horse itself.

Here is just a rough sketch of an idea I had. I've tried incorporating all the things I see when riding, such as the waves from the sea, the tree and leaves in the woods, also the setting of the sun. I didn’t want to spend too much time on this piece if it isn't the way forward and if I wasn’t heading in the right direction with it. If it is however I think by taking more time and care with a similar piece, I could turn the idea into a very unusual painting.

I created this painting because it gives me the feel of when the horse is in a faster gait and as their hooves hit the ground. It feels like the ground beneath us is rising up. The beat coming from the ground up through the horse is very rhythmical and powerful.

Here ‘s some mono prints and pastel drawings I created in the sense of the waves and current of the sea.

I have tried to bring the effects of the sunset forward. I have incorporated all of the colours I’d generally see when out riding on an evening. With the yellow of the sun, orange and red from the sky and with the black outlining any subjects or landscapes within my view.

I think the colour of this one is rather successful, I think the colour and pattern worked really well together. I tried a variety of different thicknesses to the background paints for each tree like drawings.

I think the colours I chose to use for this piece also works really well together, focusing more on the colours you would find on a tree rather than focusing on the tree itself, and also focusing on the feelings that are connected such as the wind, giving it a kind of wind like texture with the paint.

Here the tree is slightly more defined than the last one however the main focus is still more on the colours rather than the actual subject.

Although the print didn’t take as much as some of the other painting I have done, I still think it has given it quiet a nice affect. Even though I like this piece, after researching Howard Hodgkin's artwork I now realise the background is lacking in colour. But I also like the idea of simplicity within a piece of artwork.

I like the way the paint is affected when the 2 halves of the paper is pressed together, it gives both the original and the printed half a nice texture to the paint. This one however I think is one of my least successful pieces as I feel the printed half didn’t really take much and is left with very little detail.

With this one I had a good idea, the trees have a nice texture however the horse was very unsuccessful! I feel the colours and arrangement of this mono print works really well together, it has little detail yet very effective.

I am really surprised on how successful this piece turned out, it is simple yet affective. This one from one perspective wasn’t as successful as others, although it has the definition of the pathway through the trees it isn't clear enough on what it is and would be much better with a little more definition. Yet from another point of view the ray of colours brings forward the true meaning behind this painting making the definition of the picture less important but embracing the yellow, that brings sunshine, red that brings the sunset, the pink of the summertime flowers and the effect of a reflection in the water.

This painting I did with inspiration from Howard Hodgkin's art, with the bold use of colours that layer one after another. with Hodgkin's work he tends to paint the fame also into the picture, here I don’t have a frame but unlike other pieces of work I have created, I have, like Howard Hodgkin, a painting with a complete finished look making the painting become one.

I created a collage with the inspiration of riding through the forest, with the huge trees surrounding us and the never ending path of nothing but nature, peace and silence with the only sound of the leaves brushing against one another, the sound of the wind blowing past me as we speed down the never ending path, and with the warmth of the sun on my face

Here is a combination of all of the mono prints that I have done, I think the affects you can get from combining a variety of different art pieces together into the form of a collage can be very effective and successful. Home for me is a happy place, a place that is full of bright colours. Having the combination of all my work into a collage creates a wider range or colours giving me the feel of home. I was to create this piece from the idea of paintings done by Howard Hodgkin, his paintings generally have many layers of paint each different colours giving it a unique texture.
