THEMIS SOCScience Data Products − 1March 29, 2006 Science Data Products Timothy Quinn

THEMIS SOCScience Data Products − 2March 29, 2006 Probe Level 0 (L0) Data File The L0 data files will:  Contain single AppID packet type  Cover a 24 hour period  Be time ordered  Have overlap deleted  Remain compressed  Contain a 1024 byte ancillary data header

THEMIS SOCScience Data Products − 3March 29, 2006 Probe Level 0 (L0) Data File Header (1024x8 ) Packet (Nx8) Packet (Nx8) Packet (Nx8) Packet (Nx8) Packet (Nx8) 1024 Byte File Header: Bytes 0-19: A 20-byte identifier (could be ASCII) which denotes this as a THEMIS L0 APID file. Bytes 20-23: Four binary bytes with SCID in long, unsigned integer format (MSB first). Bytes 24-27: Four binary bytes with APID in long, unsigned integer format. Bytes 28-31: Four binary bytes with the number of packets in long, unsigned integer format (MSB first). Bytes 32-35: Four binary bytes in 32-bit unsigned MSB format containing the full 4-digit year of the Start Date. Bytes 36-39: Four binary bytes in 32-bit unsigned MSB format containing the Month (1-12) of the Start Date. Bytes 40-43: Four binary bytes in 32-bit unsigned MSB format containing the Day-of-Month (1-31) of the Start Date. Bytes 44-47: Four binary bytes in 32-bit unsigned MSB format containing the version number of the file. Bytes : TBD Packet Size: Nx8, where N is based on APID
