The Solar System

The Earth Moves The Earth rotates. The side of the Earth that is facing the sun has day. The Earth revolves around the sun. One revolution takes one year.

The Moon The moon orbits the Earth. It has phases because it orbits. The sun shines on it and the earth makes a shadow on it that looks different at different times.

The Sun Moves? The sun seems to move across the sky, but it is the Earth that is rotating. The Earth rotates on its axis. It rotates once every 24 hours or 1 day. The Earth's rotation creates day and night.

The Sun Moves? Just like the planets revolve around the sun, the sun revolves around the center of our galaxy, the Milky Way.
