Impact on the World/ Relevance to The Wednesday Wars According to incapable-of-understanding-mickey-mantles-societal-impact, “The gloom of defeat lasted a few minutes. Mantle helped teach that to society. Don't dwell on disappointments.” Mickey Mantle impacted the world by teaching people to not focus on the problems around them but on the bright side of things. Instead of being worried about the Vietnam War, Mickey taught citizens how to relax and have fun on the field. In The Wednesday Wars, Mickey Mantle was an idol to kids all around the world, because he succeeded greatly in baseball and Mickey had great sportsmanship. That’s why Holling Hoodhood, the main character in the novel, is so excited to see Mickey Mantle. incapable-of-understanding-mickey-mantles-societal-impact

Mickey Mantle’s Quotes Mickey Mantle has said many things that have affected several citizens. One time he said, “A team is where a boy can prove his courage on his own. A gang is where a coward goes to hide.“ During an interview, Mickey said, "If I knew I'd live this long, I would have taken better care of myself.“ Most of his quotes were about baseball and why he loved playing it. To show his dedication to the sport, Mickey Mantle said,” I'll play baseball for the Army or fight for it, whatever they want me to do."
