Discovery and Name People think that Galileo discovered Jupiter. Jupiter is named after Roman King of gods.

Measurements Order from the Sun fifth planet Distance from the Sun 483.8 million miles Diameter 86881.4 miles Mass The mass is Temperature -190 degrees Fahrenheit Day Length 9h 56m Year Length 12 years

Composition and Appearance Jupiter has a very dense core. It was thought to be surrounded by a layer of liquid metallic, hydrogen, and helium, and an outer layer of hydrogen. The appearance of Jupiter is that it has stripped patterns of clouds which are white, orange, and brown. The Great Red spot also appears on Jupiter’s surface. Jupiter has three rings. They are all made of dust. When a meteor strikes the surface of Jupiter’s small, inner moons, dust kicks up, and then the dust goes into orbit with Jupiter making its rings. The atmosphere on Jupiter is mostly made up of hydrogen and helium. In some small parts, it has methane, ammonia, hydrogen, sulfide, and water

Moons Jupiter has fifty moons. Seventeen moons still have not been confirmed. Jupiter’s four major moons are Lo, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto. They were discovered around 1610.

Exploration The Galileo was the the third spacecraft to go and see Jupiter’s atmosphere. It took it is six years of the exploration craft. I will name some, Pioneer 10, the Galileo, the Ulysses and the Voyager. The first spacecraft to see Jupiter was the Pioneer 10. It was the first space craft to fly around Jupiter. There are also a lot more spacecrafts that saw and went by Jupiter.

Unique Facts Did you that Jupiter has a big storm that is way bigger than one on Earth. Jupiter also has shorter days than earth has. It is a gas plant and that means you cant stand on Jupiter. There are many cool facts about Jupiter and those are just some , but there will always be new ones.
