5 Keys to Success at School

Differentiation We all learn differently. We all need different tools to help us be successful. – Think about how you learn best. What is it that you need to do work at your best? – How do you organize your ideas?

Scaffolding We all work/learn at different levels. The fact that we are all different in the way we learn is what makes us special. The goal is that we all understand the same thing, whether we need more help or not. – What help do you need? – How can we make it easier for you to understand what is being taught?

Literacy Literacy is the ability to read and write but also includes listening and talking. These are the biggest skills that you can learn in your life. You need these fundamental skills to do almost everything else in the world. – What are your strengths in literacy? – What do you need help with the most?

Motivation What motivates you to do your best? During each day we are all faced with responsibilities to complete and there must be a motivation behind them, or else they don’t get done. – What motivates you the most? – How could you be motivated more? – Do we always need a motivation? What happens when we do things instinctively?

Metacognition Metacognition is reassuring yourself that you understand what you are doing/learning. – Checking your work to see that it is done correctly – Asking for help from others when you are not sure – Correcting mistakes so you understand the process/solutions to problems
