ZOMBIE MOTION QUESTIONS Zombies Humans If a zombie gets a question right, they can infect a human. If a human gets a question right, they’re protected from the zombies that turn.

ZOMBIE You notice a human 15 meters away walking towards you. How long should you wait to jump out and attack, if they are walking at a rate of 3 m/s? HUMAN A zombie is following close behind you! You spot a house you could barricade 400m ahead. You’ve been running at 5 m/s. How soon will you reach the house if you keep your current pace?

Answer: 5 s Answer 80 s ZOMBIE HUMAN

ZOMBIE HUMAN d t At what point does the zombie moving according to the motion graph break through the shut door? d t When is the best time to attack the human moving according to the motion graph?

Answer: From 10 to 15 s, they are standing still. Answer: At 15 s, once they break through, they start moving again. ZOMBIE HUMAN d t d t

ZOMBIE A human is walking away from you at 2.5 m/s. You are currently shambling towards them at 1.2 m/s. What must your acceleration be to match their speed in 12 seconds? There is a group of zombies heading towards you! You are currently walking at 2.5 m/s. Your top running speed is 6 m/s. How quickly must you accelerate to reach your top speed in 3 seconds? HUMAN

Answer:.11 m/s 2 Answer: 1.17 m/s 2 ZOMBIE HUMAN

ZOMBIE HUMAN d t How fast is the zombie moving during the first 10 seconds? d t How fast is the human moving from 15s to 20s?

Answer: 2 m/s Answer: 1 m/s ZOMBIE HUMAN d t d t

ZOMBIE HUMAN d t What would the graph for a zombie accelerating look like? What does the displacement vs time graph of a human speeding up look like? d t

Answer: ZOMBIE HUMAN d t d t

You’ve shambled off the top of a building and are dropping onto some humans below. If the building is 80 m tall, how long will it take you to get to the human below? It’s raining zombies! If a zombie drops from a height of 100 m above you, how much time do you have to move out of the way? ZOMBIE HUMAN

Answer: 4.04 s Answer: 4.52 s ZOMBIE HUMAN

A group of human flees from you! They run 100 m North, then 50 m south, then 75 m North again. What is their total displacement? Aw dang, more zombies! If a zombie shambles 6 m towards you, then 19 m away from you, and then 20 m towards you. What is its total displacement? ZOMBIE HUMAN

Answer: 125 m North Answer 7 m towards you ZOMBIE HUMAN

You’re stuck on top of a car trying to get at the humans inside. They drive 15 m in 2 s, stop for 3 s, then drive another 20 m in 4 seconds. What was their average velocity? There is a zombie on your car! If you were stopped for 2 seconds, then drove 50 m in 5 s, and then sped for 96 m in 6s, what was your average velocity? ZOMBIE HUMAN

Answer: 3.9 m/s Answer: 11.2 m/s ZOMBIE HUMAN

A human car has a speed of 15 m/s. Is this a vector or scalar quantity? What two properties do vector quantities have? These zombies have a max shambling speed of 4 m/s. Is that a vector or scalar quantity? What two properties do vector quantities have? ZOMBIE HUMAN

Answer: Scalar Vector quantities have magnitude and direction. Answer: Scalar Vector quantities have magnitude and direction. ZOMBIE HUMAN

A human moves according to the d vs t graph. What is their total distance? Final Displacement? A zombie shuffles according to the d vs t graph. How far did they walk in total? Where did they end up? ZOMBIE HUMAN d t d t

Answer: Distance = 25 m Displacement = 15 m Answer: Distance = 50 m Displacement = 10 m ZOMBIE HUMAN d t d t

You creep up on a human. It takes you 15s to move 5 m. The human is still 20 m away. What is your average velocity at this point? You try and drive to the nearest safe zone 500 m away. You drive 80 m in 4 seconds. What is your average velocity at this point? ZOMBIE HUMAN

Answer:.33 m/s Answer: 20 m/s ZOMBIE HUMAN

You see a human car drive by a radar checkpoint. The checkpoint says the car was speeding at 40 mph. Is this value speed or velocity? Is it an average or instantaneous value? As you drive away from zombies the speedometer on your car reads 50 mps. Is this value speed or velocity? Is it an average or instantaneous value? ZOMBIE HUMAN

Answer: Instantaneous Speed ZOMBIE HUMAN

ZOMBIE A group of humans have escaped into their cars and are driving away at 150 m/s. You find some motorcycles at rest and manage to ride them. What must your acceleration be in order to match their velocity after traveling 500 meters. Answer: 22.5 m/s 2

ZOMBIE You smell a group of unsuspecting humans nearby! Your zombie senses tell you that if you accelerate from rest at.5 m/s 2 for 6 seconds, you’ll reach the humans! What is the current distance between you and their tasty brains? Answer: 9 m

ZOMBIE In your pursuit of a human, you accidentally jumped off a building! If it takes you 6.5 seconds to reach the ground, how tall was the building? Answer: 207 m

HUMAN You’ve climbed a tree to escape the zombies. The zombies have been climbing up beneath you for 25 minutes. They’ve managed to claw their way 2.7 meters up the tree. What is the minimum velocity you would have to climb to keep them from getting any closer? (remember direction!) Answer:.11 m/s upwards

HUMAN You are standing still when you notice a zombie on rollerblades rolling towards you at 8 m/s. What must your acceleration be to match his velocity if you only have 30 s to run away? Answer:.27 m/s 2

HUMAN You need to drive your car over a ramp to avoid a horde of zombies. Your final velocity must be 150 km/hr in order to make the jump. Your current velocity is 125 km/hr and you are 10 km away from the ramp. How fast must you accelerate in order to make the jump? Answer: km/hr 2

HUMAN Your Zombie Survival GPS tells you that, at with an acceleration of 6 m/s 2, and your initial velocity of 40 m/s, you should reach the Safe Zone in just 40 seconds! How far are you from the safe zone? Answer: 6400 m

HUMAN To escape pursuit, you parachute off of a tall building, if you open your parachute after 7 seconds, how far will you have fallen? Answer: m
