John Fitzpatrick IET-600 Impact of Technology Dr. Zargari

My Definition of Technology  Technology to me is any invention that makes life easier for the user, or update to something already on the market that makes it better and easier to use.

Definition of Technology per Dictionary  a : the practical application of knowledge especially in a particular area : engineering 2 applicationengineering  b : a capability given by the practical application of knowledge

Impact of Technology on Society  The biggest challenge facing people is to determine the type of future we need to have and then create relevant technologies which will simplify the way we do things.

Positive Impacts of Technology  Humans use technology to travel, to communicate, to learn, to do business and to live in comfort. communicatelearnbusiness  We can use corn to make ethanol and this ethanol can be used as fuel.  Fuel can be used to run machines and cars which will increase on output of manufacturing industries at a lower cost.

Positive Impacts Continued Here is just an example of positive Impacts of technology with the cell phone. Lets try to carry one of those first ones around in our pockets.

Positive Impacts Continued  There is also positive impacts in many areas of our lives.  With the medical field being one of those main areas. The medical field is continuing technological advances in things such as new medicines or better the ones we already have.

Negative Impacts of Technology  Technology has also caused us concerns.  Its poor application has resulted into the pollution of the environment and it has also cause serious threat to our lives and society.

Negative Impacts Continued  As I used in the positive impacts this could be the negative result of using corn for ethanol.  However, if we decide to shift large quantities of corn to fuel production from food production, humans will be left with no food and this will cause world hunger which even be a worse situation.

Negative Impacts Continued  With new technologies we always have to think about the negatives.  With technologies such as drones in the hands of the wrong people can be harmful to anyone and everyone.

Conclusion  Technology can be good and bad in every way. We always need new technologies to make our lives easier, but on the other hand in the position of the wrong people new technologies can be harmful in every way such as spying on people or making more potent explosive devises.
