comets When a comet passes the sun it grows a tail of gas and dust.

METEORS Meteors fall to earth but never reach the ground.

Shooting stars Shooting stars are not stars they are meteorites.

Rocks fall to earth and they are so fast they glow!

ASTEROIDS Some asteroids are bigger then mountains.

Comets are big lumps of ice and dust. Did you know? Some comets orbit the sun every 1,000 years!

A comet travels around our solar system.

CRATERS Big meteorites make craters when they hit the ground. Craters are big holes in planets.

Some scientists think that the dinosaurs disappeared after a giant meteor hit Earth.

Most meteorites come from asteroids. Asteroids are pieces of rock from space.

Scientists have found many meteorites on Earth.

Thank you for watching! What is one thing you learned about rocks from space?
