Questions Genetics Genetics is the study of genes, heredity, and genetic variation in living organisms. Write down a list of questions you have

Agenda Design a Hybrid animal

Here are some ideas

What is a Gene? A gene is a sequence of bases that is the directions for how to make a specific protein. The protein that is made will determine the trait that the organism has.

What is a Gene? Remember: Your DNA is a code that tells your cells everything they need to know to make you you! If your hair is brown, it’s because your DNA code is telling your cells to make a specific protein. That protein makes your hair brown.

How do Cells Make Protein? Cells use a type of nucleic acid called RNA to make protein. There are 3 types of RNA:

How do Cells Make Protein? The process of making protein is called Protein Synthesis and it happens in two steps: 1.Transcription (using mRNA) 2.Translation (using tRNA and Ribosomes)

Coding for Amino Acids Remember, proteins are made out of long strings of amino acids, and there are only 20 different amino acids.
