Don’t get stung or bitten!

Lonomia Caterpillar

If you are in South America, don’t lean up against trees!!!

If you are stung by a Lonomia Caterpillar Use something sticky to remove hairs. Wash stung area with soap and water. Go to the hospital for anti-venom.

Japanese Hornet

Japanese Hornet Suggested Prevention Avoid getting to close to a Japanese Hornet nest. Leave the area of the hive. Never mess with a Japanese Hornets nest.

Japanese Hornet Recommended First Aid Leave the hive area. Remove stinger with dull edge. Apply ice It may sound weird but WD-40 has been found to reduce pain.

King Cobra

The King Cobra prefers to escape. Do not provoke. The King Cobra usually avoids humans. If you encounter a King Cobra, don’t make sudden movements.

King Cobra Recommended First Aid Make sure victim is out of danger. Call for help. Keep the victim calm. Wrap bitten area with a snug bandage. Keep bitten area from moving with a splint. Take anti-venom at the hospital.

Western Diamondback

Western Diamondback Rattle Snake Suggested Prevention Walk heavily to create ground vibrations and noise. This will cause snake to flee.  If encountering a snake remain silent and motionless.  Move back slowly if snake has not fled. Walking Heavily

Call 9-1-1

Lie down with bitten area below heart. Stay Calm Keep warm Remove restriction items like rings, bracelets, and boots. The bitten area will swell. Wash bitten area with soap and water.

Get to Hospital for Anti-Venom
