Writing Workshop! HOORAY!

Black Friday My family likes to go shopping every year on the day after Thanksgiving. We wake up really early. One Black Friday we went to Menards because my sister Cara wanted to buy a new sleeping bag. She was ten years old, so she was smaller than a lot of the shoppers. Cara got a cart and tried to maneuver her way through the jungle of hurried customers. When she got to the box of sleeping bags there were only two left. She really wanted one, but the box was so tall that she couldn’t reach over it. She didn’t know what to do, but someone grabbed the second to last sleeping bag and then there was only one left. So she jumped in and grabbed it. The bag was hers!

Black Friday #3 My family likes to go shopping every year on the day after Thanksgiving. We wake up really early. (1) One Black Friday we went to Menards because my sister Cara wanted to buy a new sleeping bag. She was ten years old, so she was smaller than a lot of the shoppers. (2) Cara got a cart and tried to maneuver her way through the jungle of hurried customers. When she got to the box of sleeping bags there were only two left. She really wanted one, but the box was so tall that she couldn’t reach over it. (3) She didn’t know what to do, but someone grabbed the second to last sleeping bag and then there was only one left. (4) So she jumped in and grabbed it. (5) The bag was hers!

My additions to my story 1.I am never quite ready to wake up at 3:30 AM, but every year I do. My dad wakes me up and hands my sister and I bright hunter orange caps “so we can see each other in the store.” He also hands us walkie-talkies for communication purposes. We all have cell phones, but walkie talkies make this seem like a real mission. 2.Some people tried to slam their cart into Cara’s so she would move out of their way. She got a little scared that she was going to get run over, but she kept going anyway because she really wanted the new sleeping bag. 3.She tried to find a way to get the sleeping bag out of the box, but she couldn’t figure it out. Precious time was slipping away! 4.Cara was getting desperate, so finally she took a deep breath, stood up on a shelf, and dove headfirst into the box. She tackled the last sleeping bag as if it was wide receiver. 5.VICTORY!
