An SAE (Supervised Agricultural Experience) is a practical application of classroom concepts designed to provide “real world” experiences and develop skills in agriculturally related career areas Four Types of SAE’s –Research/Experimentation –Placement –Ownership/Entrepreneurship –Agricultural Service Learning Exploratory, Improvement, Supplemental, Directed School Laboratory.

What is FFA? Began in 1928 as Future Farmers of America –An organization for high school boys interested in farming. Has grown to become a Diverse National Youth Organization with ½ a million members who share a common interest in Agriculture.

The FFA Mission FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for Premier Leadership, Personal Growth, and Career Success, through agriculture education.

Agricultural Careers Production Agriculture: – This involves actually raising field crops, poultry, fruit, vegetables, or livestock. Agriculture Mechanics: –This involves planning and constructing buildings, machinery maintenance, welding, electrical work and plumbing. Agriculture Sales and Service: –This involves occupations such as veterinarian, farrier, ag commissioner, equipment dealers, feed dealers, ag flying.

Agricultural Careers Agriculture Processing: –Involves processing and distributing food. Examples are butchers, egg processing, plant workers, cheese processing workers. Horticulture: –Involves landscaping, floriculture, turf management, and nursery management. Forestry: Involves producing and harvesting timber, managing forests and reforestation.

Agricultural Careers Rural Recreation and Natural Resources: –Involves working with renewable resources such as wildlife, water and soil. Agricultural Marketing and Business Management: –Involves business economics related to agriculture, developing markets for agricultural products and successful marketing of those products.

Ag Education Ensures Success! Regardless of which Career you choose, agricultural or not, Ag Education will better prepare you for your future life and career. The opportunities are endless, so don’t wait jump right in and get more involved in Agriculture Education!
