WHAT WILL BE COVERED What is SAFB? Funding Maximums Discretionary Funds Basic Rules and Regulations How to Fill Out the Forms

WHAT IS SAFB? THE STUDENT ACTIVITIES FUNDING BOARD is a standing committee inside Oakland University Student Congress that provides funding and other means of assistance to Oakland University’s many registered student organizations. The purpose of the Student Activities Funding Board is to impartially assist the registered student organizations of Oakland University in implementing programs, events, and other types of activities to benefit the Oakland University student body by fairly and equitably appropriating its financial resources, as well as professionally consulting with the aforementioned organizations.

BASIC RULES AND REGULATIONS To be eligible for funding your Org must: Be registered on GrizzOrgs and approved by the CSA Attend the mandatory student org training Be in good financial standing in both SAFB and FLEX accounts Have four officers registered (President, V.P., Secretary, and Treasurer)

BASIC RULES AND REGULATIONS To be eligible for funding your Org must: Use the GrizzOrgs Budget Management Software Abide by all SAFB regulations Understand and abide by all Oakland University, CSA, City, State, and Federal rules, laws, and regulations

FUNDING MAXIMUMS $3000 can be applied for during the FALL and WINTER $1000 can be applied for during the SUMMER 50% of total funding maximum for equipment -($1500/$500) 40% of total funding maximum for food -($1200/$400) 30% of total funding maximum for conferences -($1000/$350) 10% of total funding maximum for a speaker, DJ, or performer *Co-sponsored events are eligible for maximums multiplied by number of sponsors

DISCRETIONARY FUNDS $400 for FALL/WINTER $200 for SUMMER You DO NOT automatically receive discretionary funds Only funds available for banners and fliers Discretionary funds DO NOT carry over Deadlines for use are December 1 st, April 1 st, August 1 st

DEADLINES *All forms must be submitted 3 WEEKS prior to your event! *CSA requires all contracts submitted 1 MONTH prior! *Events requesting $1000+ must be submitted 1 MONTH prior! *All $1000+ events require mandatory SAFB hearings!

SAFB DOES NOT FUND GIVEAWAYS/SOUVENIRS FUNDRAISERS TRAVEL, LODGING, FOOD FOR CONFERENCES EVENT PLANNERS TRIPS TO RESTAURANTS DEPARTMENT EVENTS DELIVERY /RUSH FEES ROOM CLEAN UP COSTS

ADVERTISING EVENTS -ALL events MUST be published to the GrizzOrgs calendar -Calendar and Budget requests MUST be consistently labeled -All events must include the words “Free and Open to All OU Students” -Free flier printing is available in the CSA -Not necessary for conferences or equipment requests

REMINDERS You do not automatically receive $3000/$1000 You must reapply for discretionary every semester Only one budget request per event All unused funds are wiped at the end of each budget period Contracts are due to the CSA one month in advance Copies can be made in the CSA for FREE! You are responsible for staying in good financial standing!
