Branded Assessment on Transgender Women & Service Package for Transgender in Cambodia Presented by: Mr. Heng Saly, Technical officer MSM/TG

Objective To gather ideas for behavioral change communications (BCC)/informational content and service referral points (in addition to what is outlined in the Boosted CoPCT) needed by transgender women (e.g., related to GBV, hormone use, safe injections). To Collect input on potential program name and design/look. To gather ideas for delivery channels and locations (e.g., DICs, community-outreach, SMS, website).

TG Assessment Process : Submitted and get approval from APRO (FHI 360 regional office) Submitted and get approval from Head office (WCD) Submitted and get approval from National Ethic Committee (NEC )

Method The assessment gathered information by talking with transgender currently reached by HIV Flagship and Non Flagship implementing partners (IPs). Group Discussion (GDs) were approximately 90 minutes in length and led by one or two FHI 360 staff and Flagship consortium who manage the organization’s MSM and TG works, and one staff of the local NGO partner and/or BC (MSM/TG) representative.

Sample size and geographic :  15 group discussions were held with 120 TW across study sites.  Five geographic areas in Cambodia’s provinces – Phnom Penh (capital city) – Siem Reap – Banteay Meanchey – Battambang – Sihanouk Ville

Result: BCC/ information content and service referral points used, of interest/importance Ideas for the program name and design/look Srey Sros, meaning Pretty Girls A branded, human rights based multi-channel HIV prevention and sexual health program for Transgender

Findings were used to develop the Srey Sros branded package of services and NCHADS endorsed guidance note: Comprehensive Package of Services to Reduce HIV among the Transgender Population in Cambodia

Goal: To support HIV prevention, treatment and care among transgender in Cambodia. Overall objectives: To contribute to improving the health status of Transgender people. To reduce HIV and STI transmission among TG and their sexual and/or injecting partners.

Standard Package of Activities: Prevention Strategic Behavioral Communications (SBC)/education (messages change quarterly based on an annually developed communications plan, which is based on latest quantitative and qualitative data) Condom/lubricant distribution, promotion and sales Point of care (PoC) STI and HIV screening (PoC STI screening occurs only in select sites; more generally, STI screening is provided in clinics via OW referrals of clients) Referrals to health (STI diagnosis and treatment, HIV, sexual health) and social service (e.g., legal aid) Enabling Environment
