Before Decorations Beautiful layout, shelving and furniture, but kind of stark and lacking in warmth.

Study and Research Area Computer lab is adjacent to the library, but we currently have only one carrel with three computers in library for catalog searching and research. Would like more stations with less bulky furniture, like tables displayed in 2 nd picture.

Checkout Desk These photos were taken on one of my first days as LS Librarian – 8/28/06 This was before I did any decorating or beautifying.

Magazine Displays In these photos, you can begin to see color and life emerging in the library!

Librarian’s Office The Honorable Harry Potter WallSink, Paper Towels, Cabinets Windows for viewing entire libraryLots of counter space

Teaching/Meeting/Work Area Has tables, chairs, built in projector and projection screen. Currently need to plug in computer for projection but am aiming to get wireless projection capability in the future.

Reading/Large Group/Work Area

Some Posters & Decorations The more you read, The more you know. The more you know, The smarter you grow. The smarter you grow, The stronger your voice When speaking your mind Or making your choice.

Bulletin Boards

“Pop open a new book” Pizza slice bookmarks! “Feed Your Mind—Read” Food Themes

Plush Book Characters for Display

Wish List for The Killebrew Curtain Valances for three bare windows (below) in E Fiction area – in the color “Blue” to match furniture– this should add warmth to the area

Display case(s) for collectibles such as a donated collection of dolls from around the world (from Brodart)

“Reading Rocks” carpet for gathering around rocking chair in reading area (Brodart) Glider rocker (with royal blue cushion ) to replace rickety wooden chair (from Brooks Furniture)

Wooden loft (perhaps even in the style of a tree house to correspond with the popular book series The Magic Tree House) with lots of big, cushy pillows to be built adjacent to “tree” in reading area.
