Key countries and their attitude towards dual citizenship Serbia: accepted, they also provide citizenship for Serbians outside of Serbia Ukraina: controversial situation, dual citizenship can be sanctioned. The interpretation of the legistlation remains unclear

Experts about simplified naturalization No significantly effect on migration to Hungary Side effect: illegal labour market may decrease in Hungary 3 groups of motivation for naturalization can be observed: Legitimization of preexisting settlemen Symbolic emotional Easier labour migration

Results of the survey 92% of Serbian citizens are planning to apply, the rest is hesitating 63% of Ukrainian citizens are planning to apply, 23% not Main motivations to apply: Employment Simplifying the travel and work abroad Easier administration Symbolic value

Reactions of local Hungarian language papers in Ukraine and Serbia In Serbia: positive attitude, symbolic value is emphasized In Ukraine: problems of dual citizenship, nationalism In both cases: in the relevant articles Hungarian citizenship is not related to increasing labour migration

Conclusion There is neither evidence nor assumptions that simplified naturalization may have a significant impact on labour migration to Hungary
