TEXTBOOK TODAY! Biology October 27, 2014 Copy and answer the following EQ into your spiral notebook. EQ: How does change in an ecosystem affect the entire ecosystem? ALL organisms in an ecosystem share some kind of relationship with other organisms. A change for one would mean a change for everyone.

Word of the Day Relationship The relationship between organisms in an ecosystem describes the effects one organism has on another.

Biological Relationships Vocabulary Foldable You will need to have open to the next page in your journal that is blank on both sides. Fold your page half way to the red line Veggie- dog style. Label the top: Biological Relationships Divide the page into 12 sections. Define the terms and provide at least 1 example or drawing to solidify the concept.

Biological Relationships Vocabulary 1.biotic factor 2.abiotic factor 3.resource 4.survival 5.habitat 6.niche 7.keystone species 8.symbiosis 9.predation 10.mutualism 11.commensalism 12.parasitism

Keystone Species A keystone species is a species on which the persistence of a large number of other species in the ecosystem depends. Gopher Tortoise (Gopherus polyphemus)

biotic factor abiotic factor resource survival habitat niche keystone species symbiosis predation mutualism commensalism parasitism

Write-It-Up When you have finished defining the terms. Use colored pencils to link the terms as shown on the white board. On the back of the definition page or on the adjacent page, write 2-3 paragraphs using ALL of the words pointing out how they are related to one another.
