THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH ACT Brendon Clair

DRAFT YEAR AND AMENDMENT YEARS  It was drafted in 1970  It is a national law  It was amended in 1974, 77, 78, 79, 82, 84, 90, 92, 94, 95, 98, and 2002

FUNCTION AND ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES AFFECTED  The main purpose of the law is to protect workers, mostly from chemical hazards, machines, and potential fires or explosions.  When people began to worry that chemicals from workplaces might harm the environment labor leaders seized on the opportunity. They claimed the workers were more at risk because they had the more exposure and little legal protection.

AGENCY RESPONSIBLE FOR REGULATION AND ENFORCEMENT  The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is in charge of regulation and enforcement.  This agency was created by the law, hence the similar name and acronym.
