RUDYARD KIPLING (1865-1936) & THE JUNGLE BOOK SIIRI TALVISTU

CHILDHOOD & EARLY LIFE + Joseph Rudyard Kipling was born on 30 December 1865 in Bombay, British India. + 6-year-old Kipling was sent to England + At the age of 12 he was sent to study at the United Service College at Westward Ho in Devon - a military school. + At 17 he took up a job in Lahore as an assistant editor in a local newspaper the Civil & Military Gazette.

WRITING CAREER + In two years he published six volumes of short stories set in and concerned with India + At 24 he left the newspaper and went back to England where he was already recognized and acclaimed as a brilliant writer + Because of his condition his doctors advised him for a sea voyage. Meanwhile, he wrote a collection of short stories about the British India called “Life's Handicap”.

1907 NOBEL PRIZE WINNER He won the prize in literature in consideration of : + The power of observation + Originality of imagination + Virility of ideas and + Remarkable talent for narration
