The Rosary

The Joyful Mysteries

The Angel Gabriel asks Mary if she would become the Mother of Jesus.

Mary visits her cousin Elizabeth who was to become the mother of John the Baptist.

Jesus is born in Bethlehem.

Jesus is presented at the temple to Simeon the priest.

Mary and Joseph spend three days searching for Jesus who was talking to the rabbis.

The Mysteries of Light or The Luminous Mysteries

John baptised Jesus with water in the River Jordan. God said, “This is my son, in whom I am pleased.” The Holy Spirit appeared as a dove. The Holy Trinity was present.

Jesus, Mary and the apostles were at a wedding when the wine ran out. Jesus changed the water into wine – His first miracle.

Jesus preached to the crowds about God’s Kingdom.

Jesus appeared illuminated with Moses and Elijah. The Apostles knew then that Jesus was divine.

At the Last Supper Jesus broke the bread and said, “This is My Body. Take and eat.” Then He took the wine and said, “This is My Blood. Do this in memory of Me.” That was the first Eucharist.

The Sorrowful Mysteries

After the Last Supper Jesus went into the Garden of Gethsemane to pray.

Pilate handed Jesus over to be scourged like a criminal.

A crown of thorns was pushed into Jesus’ head and the soldiers made fun of Him.

Jesus is made to carry His cross to the hill on Calvary. He fell three times because he was so hurt.

Jesus dies on the cross to save us and the world from our sins.

The Glorious Mysteries

At the Resurrection Jesus rose from the dead. The woman and disciples were amazed.

Jesus told the Apostles He had to go back to His Father in heaven. He rose up into a cloud and disappeared from sight.

At Pentecost the Holy Spirit came upon Mary and the disciples like a wind and in the form of tongues of fire. It was just like Jesus said; “I will never leave you alone. I will send you an Advocate, a helper.”

When Mary’s life on Earth was at an end she was taken up, body and soul, into heaven to be with her Son, Jesus.

Mary was crowned the Queen of Heaven. She is also our Mother.

The End
