Coaches, administrators and donors are restricted from providing assistance directly to a student-athlete.  Athletic aid is viewed the same as any other institutionally controlled scholarships or student loans  Financial Aid cannot exceed actual costs for :  Tuition  Mandatory fees  Books  Supplies  Room and Board  Institutions may cover medical expenses related to athletics

N A T I O N A L A S S O C I A T I O N O F I N T E R C O L L E G I A T E A T H L E T I C S Financial Aid: Varsity Roster The financial aid limits apply only to varsity rosters. An athlete must be designated as varsity if he/she competes in any intercollegiate contest that:  Is included in varsity statistics and/or won-loss record;  Can be used for qualification for postseason competition; or  Can be counted toward team scoring for the varsity team. Financial aid to junior varsity-only participants will not count against the institution’s allowable limits and will not be reported to the NAIA.
