Pastor for Leadership Development & Young Adults JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Profile  The scope of responsibility for the Pastor for Leadership Development and Young Adults align with the Goals of Discipleship and Leadership and include leadership development, team formation and Young Adult discipleship.

Position Profile (cont.)  The Pastor for Leadership Development and Young Adults will;  Play a significant role in the raising up of, equipping and releasing people into leadership within the context of ministry that reflect their passion and gifting and which align with the values and goals of our church ethos and culture. This will involve a great focus on creating a culture that exists around function within the context of a team and not just the focus on accomplishing the task.  Shape a culture of discipleship amongst the young adults that has at its core focus active ministry and mission that reflects the gifts of the spirit that serve the body of Christ and contribute to a call of ministry to the cause of kingdom of God within our city of Shoalhaven.

Appointment and Reporting  The calling and appointment of the Pastor for Leadership Development and Young Adults is affirmed by the Eldership, confirmed by the membership and commissioned by the church.  The appointment is for 2 days per week.  Reporting and accountability for this position is to the Senior Pastor.

Related Church Wide Goals:  Leadership Goal: Create sustainable learning environments to effectively prepare and equip people for leadership.  Responsibility: Training leaders to lead out of; who they are (character), what God has lead them to do (call), their ability to walk in it (competence)- within the context of team ministry (chemistry).  Discipleship Goal: Establish a fully integrated discipleship pathway from children to young adults.  Responsibility: Building a movement of discipled and dedicated followers of Jesus who will disciple the next generation to do the same.

Duties of the Pastor:  Leadership Formation: To meet on a regular basis with key ministry oversight leaders providing mentoring and coaching in their personal formation and ministry development.  Strategic Development and implementation: To contribute, in partnership and collaboration with the Senior Pastor to develop the strategic goals and outcomes from the Natural Development Research and training conducted within our church.  Team Development: Ensure key ministry team leaders have the necessary resources to meet personal development and Ministry area needs.

Duties of the Pastor (cont.)  Training: Work with the Senior Pastor, Executive Ministry Team and Ministry Leaders to identify leadership training priorities and develop training programs.  Discipleship: Identify emerging young adults and sow into their personal and ministry formation with a specific goal of creating a team over the next two years that would raise up and lead the next generation of young adults.  Community: Work towards shaping a vibrant sustainable integrated community amongst the young adults that ensures their longevity within the life of the kingdom and our church.

Consistent Responsibilities:  To be a part of the Eldership team of Nowra Church of Christ.  Meet with Key Ministry Leaders from various ministries on at least a monthly basis to help in the development and formation of their personal and ministry formation.  Attend and contribute to the facilitation of Fortnightly Executive Ministry Team meetings.  Contribute to the culture and formation of the evening gathering through weekly attendance, regular teaching and presence.  Participate in the collaborative preaching roster across New Future-New Hope, NCofC and Fresh Hope Community Church, Bungendore.

Time Commitment:  The Pastor for Leadership Development and Young Adults will be required to work two days a week.
