 Why is it important to make this distinction? ◦ Ephesians 2:8–10 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

 What about the “good” works that unbelievers do, like giving millions to cancer research?  That may be a “good” work in people’s eyes, but not a true good work in God’s eyes
