Skin Cancer. What is cancer? The disease caused by a division of abnormal cells that are uncontrolled in the part of the body. Or a malignant growths or tumors that would be resulting from the division of the abnormal cells.

Why do cells need to divide if the process can potentially lead to cancer? Cells need to divide because the organisms need to grow. The tissue needs to repair. And the cells need to stay small.

Why is cancer common in skin? Cancer is common in skin because the stratum basale is always dividing.

The three Skin Cancer types- Basal Cell Carcinoma also known as BCC Squamous Cell Carcinoma also known as SCC And Melanoma

The basal cell carcinoma- The basal cell carcinoma is a cancer that originates in cells of the outer layer of the skin its also known as the epidermis. Basal cell carcinoma is no trifles, but its not often fatal the nonmelanoma skin cancers can be highly destructive if not detected and treated early enough. The basal cell carcinoma is mostly common in people that are 40 years and older, and they are common in both male and female.

Squamous Cell Carcinoma- Squamous cell carcinoma is cancer that originates in the squamous cells of the skin. Squamous cell carcinoma is the second most common type of skin cancer in male and female. Squamous Cell Carcinoma are no trifles, but like the basal cell carcinoma its also not often fatal. These nonmelanoma skin cancers can be extremely destructive if not detected and if its not treated early enough.

Melanoma Melanoma is a cancer that originates in the pigment-producing cells of the skin also known as melanocytes. Melanoma is the most dangerous form of skin cancer. when melanoma isn’t caught early enough it has a high probability of spreading and potentially becoming lethal. However the other two skin cancers are not trifles. Melanoma accounts for 5% for less of skin cancers. But melanoma cancer causes the most skin cancer deaths.

The abc’s of skin cancer A is for asymmetrical. B is for border. C is for color. D is for diameter. E is for evolve. A.If the mole that you’ve found is not the same it is asymmetrical. B.A benign mole has a smooth, and an even border, its not like melanomas. The borders of an early melanoma tends to be less even. C. Benign moles are mostly all one color. they are often only a single shade of brown. having a lot of different colors is another warning sign. D. These benign moles usually have a smaller diameter than malignant ones. melanomas usually are very much larger in diameter. E.Very common benign moles look the same over time. usually you should be on alert when the mole becomes a different size and have a different shape.

Things i didn’t know about skin cancer. - I never knew that People with a lighter skin color, Having blue or green eyes, and having blonde or red hair could be prone to getting skin cancer by being sunburnt if their skin is to sensitive. And i also didn’t know that people that have Certain types and large number of moles could easily get skin cancer. You also could get skin cancer when you’re 40 years of age and older. To me that is so crazy!

Myths about cancer Myth 1-“I’m not at risk for skin cancer because my routine doesn’t include any outdoor activities.” Myth 2- “A tanning bed is safer than an uv rays from the sun.” Myth 3- “People who tan easily and rarely burn do not get cancer.” Myth 4-”If you have a funny looking or suspicious mole you can always ask your doctor to cut it off before it turns cancerous.” Myth 5- “You don’t need to wear sunscreen on cloudy days.”
