Psychology Position

Course Demand  Psyc& 100 –Requirement for programs  Math Education, Biology Education, Chemistry Education, General Science Education, Physics Education, Early Childhood Education Paraeducator, Pre-Nursing, Criminal Justice & Forensic Technology, & an option for AA in Elementary Education –9 full sections (327 students) for Fall Quarter 2015 with a 98% fill rate 2

Course Demand  Psyc&200 –Requirement for Pre-Nursing –3 sections offered on main campus Fall Quarter 2015 with a fill rate of 98% –1 section on Kent campus Winter Quarter 2015 –Demand is very high but we don’t have available instructors to teach more sections 3

Course Demand  Number of courses requested at the branch and main campuses has increased over past 4 years  Number of sections has remained steady because the faculty are maxed out and can’t offer more sections. 4

Challenges  Difficulty finding quality adjunct faculty to teach courses –We have to cancel 4 sections of Psychology in Winter Quarter because we do not have instructors. We have been interviewing since September.  Difficulty meeting student need –Delaying on-time graduation for students –Losing students to other community colleges, difficult to get them to return to GRC to finish degree 5
