Did Man Create a God to Worship? Lesson 1

Did Man Create a god to Worship or Did God Create Man to Worship Him? Interesting quotes: Freud said, “Man created God.” Voltaire said, “If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent Him.” Blaise Pascal said, “There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heart of every person…”

God is Worthy to Be Praised He must be the only object of man’s worship –No other Gods! (Exodus 20:3-5; Isaiah 45:5-9) –Idols are dumb! (Psalm 115:1-8; Hab. 2:18-20) –No other spirit being is worthy of worship! (Matthew 4:9-10; Revelation 19:10; 22:8-9) God is worthy to be praised because of Who and What He is. (Hebrews 12:28; Psalm 96:8-9; Acts 17:24-31)

God is Worthy to Be Praised Glimpses Of God’s Glory Visions of God’s throne (Isaiah 6:1-7; Ezekiel 1:1-28; Daniel 7:9-10; Revelation 4:1-11; 21:22-22:5) Manifestations of God’s glory in the earthly realm (Exodus 33:18-23; 34:29-30; John 1:18; Matt. 17:1-8; 2 Peter 1:16-18)

God is Worthy to Be Praised Freud said that man in his fears created God; the Bible says that man in his arrogance denies God (Romans 1:18-32). Sinful man did not wish God into existence. If he could, sinful man would wish God out of existence (Psalm 10:4; 14:1).
