A Cowboy’s Honor This is a short story about a man who loses something of great sentimental value and vows to fight it. Spur: a device with a small spike or a spiked wheel that is worn on a rider's heel and used for urging a horse forward.

Assignment: Improving Test Taking Performance by using Close Read Strategies As a Group: Preview each question BEFORE you begin reading. Underline each question. There are vocabulary words in this passage: Cadence, Heirloom, Covenant. Define them in the margins. Group read: Read one column and then the next person will read.
