Language and Religion The two official languages in Hong Kong are Chinese and English. The Cantonese dialect is also frequently used. There is a large diversity of philosophical and religious beliefs.
Food The basic food is rice and is often prepared with fish, pork, chicken, and vegetables. Chopsticks are used with most meals. When you eat, it is good manners to hold the rice bowl close to your mouth.
Population and Climate Hong Kong has an estimated population of 5.78 million people in an area about half the size of Rhode Island. The area is mostly mountainous and has a tropical climate with seasonal monsoons.
