RECAP

Effective human resource management Effective human resource management requires the management of staff to be aligned with the strategic goals of the business. The strategic management of staff and a successful workplace culture will attract, motivate and build employees’ commitment and performance in a business.

Human Resource Management The purpose of HRM is to recruit, develop and utilise the organisation’s personnel in the way which is most appropriate to the achievement of the firm’s aims and objectives.

Human Resource Strategy Human Resource Strategy (HRS) is the organisation’s strategic plan. HRS demands that an organisation should manage its employees in a way which is consistent with the objectives of the business. Its main purpose is to establish a competitive advantage.

Leadership styles

There is a range of leadership styles used by managers globally. ….the main features of basic management approaches: the classical authoritative, autocratic (directive) approaches, which focus on planning, organising and controlling the behavioural approach, which sees management as leading, motivating and communicating, is most commonly seen in a participative or democratic leadership style the contingency approach, which uses the most appropriate approach depending on the situation and changes in circumstances.

Employees do not appreciate constant supervision (authoritarian) Prefer consulted, empowered, recognised (feedback) Appreciate managers who are open and honest in their communication, encourage, listen and support staff, and demonstrate integrity in managing the business.
