Big Picture…what are we expected to learn?  For this unit, you will be assessed by taking a QUIA test (at least)  Explain what psychology is…and isn’t  Identify important psychologists who influenced the field of psychology  Define key terms and major psychological perspectives

Introduction to Psychology What IS psychology? What do psychologists do? What types of psychologists are there?

“A day in the life…”  Imagine you are a psychologist…you wake in the morning, you get out of bed, eat your breakfast, and leave for work…WHERE DO YOU GO?

“A day in the life…”  Imagine you get to work and start your day…WHAT DO YOU DO?

So, what is psychology?  Psychology is the study of mental processes and behavior  What does that mean?  Examples of mental processes?  Examples of human behavior?  What are some things that have interested you?
